Analysis Of Friedrich Schlegel s The Fragment No

Friedrich Schlegel’s â€Å"Athenaeum Fragment No. 116† discusses romantic poetry, an art form that the Romantic generation changed quite drastically. According to Schlegel, romantic poetry is different from previous poetry because it combines poetry with other art forms. Romantic poetry is a social and literary, allowing people from all cultures and classes to read, listen, and interpret what each poet is conveying. The topics of romantic poetry range from a comprehensive description of nature, as in William Wordsworth’s â€Å"Daffodils,† to a focus on the death of beloved, as in Wordsworth’s â€Å"A Slumber Did My Spirit Seal,† to a focus on love, friendship, and deep emotion, as in John Keats’ â€Å"Bright star, would I were stedfast as thou art.†Ã¢â‚¬ ¦show more content†¦And it can also – more than any other form – hover at the midpoint between the portrayed and the portrayer, free of all real and ideal self-interest, on the wings of poetic reflection, and can raise that reflection again and again to a higher power, can multiply it in an endless succession of mirrors.† As the poet writes, they reflect on what they are writing about and the feelings they are evoking; once the audience receives the poem, they, too, ponder of its meanings and what the artist may have been trying to convey. The audience does this with such fervency and so frequently that their thoughts make it back to the poet, who then in turn does more writing. In addition, members of the audience may both critique and be inspired by the poem, which can cause more writing and introspection. Another reason romantic poetry is progressive is because it cannot be perfected. It, like the nineteenth century, constantly evolves and adapts. Thus, as Schlegel says, â€Å"no theory...would dare try to characterize its ideal,† that is, romantic poetry cannot be defined by its ideals since it encompasses a myriad of themes and styles. It is chiefly governed by the will of the poet, not conforming to the laws of literature of the time. Romantic poetry is more than just a style of poetry; it has the ability to be defined and classified for a multitude of poems, at least it did in theShow MoreRelatedCleanth Brookss Essay Irony as a Principle of Structure9125 Words   |  37 PagesMarx’s economic theories as such: we shall confine our discussion to their methodological premises and implications. Sartre and the Rationalization of Human Sexuality Essay

Sartre and the Rationalization of Human Sexuality ABSTRACT: Sartre rationalizes sexuality much like Plato. Rationalization here refers to the way Sartre tries to facilitate explanation by changing the terms of the discussion from sexual to nonsexual concepts. As a philosophy which, above all, highlights those features of human existence which seem most resistant to explanation, one would expect existentialism to highlight sexuality as a category that is crucial for considering human existence. Descartes comes immediately to mind when one focuses on Sartres major categories. In Sartres case however, it is not mind and matter but consciousness and its opposite: nothingness and being. This irreducible dualism is the key to the†¦show more content†¦All reality is either consciousness or non-conscious being. However, this Cartesianism is qualified by a dialectic derived from Hegel and by Hegelian concepts and explicated through a phenomenological method influenced by Husserl. Yet the net effect of Sartres picture of sexuality is surprisingly platonic; it is what Plato might be expected to say if he had published his position after World War II. Sartres philosophy is presented in his major work, Being and Nothingness, subtitled, An Essay on Phenomenological Ontology. (1) Hazel Barnes notes in her introduction that Sartre is one of the few philosophers in the twentieth century to produce a complete philosophical system. This system is presented in Being and Nothingness. The terms in the title refer to the two primary constituents of reality: being, which is non-conscious, and the negation of being, which is the way Sartre conceives of consciousness. This consciousness of being is examined by a method called phenomenological, which suggests that no pretension is being made to uncover the ultimate nature of reality in a metaphysics, but that Sartre intends to describe as accurately as possible the structures of reality as it appears. The dichotomy of being and nothingness is a new version of platonic and cartesian dualism with several severe qualifications.Show MoreRelatedCnps 365 Midterm 1 Notes Essay3947 Words   |  16 PagesChapter 4 5 Psychoanalytic Therapy †¢ Sigmund Freud. †¢ Freuds psychoanalytical system = model of personality development, approach to psychotherapy †¢ Often a benchmark used for other theories †¢ Freudian view of human nature = deterministic †¢ Behaviour determined by irrational forces, unconscious motivations 0biological/instinctual drives, evolve through key psycho sexual stages in first 6 years of life †¢ Instincts central †¢ Libido = energy of all life instincts †¢ Libido, source of motivationRead MoreFrom Salvation to Self-Realization18515 Words   |  75 PagesConsumption: Critical Essays in American History, 18801980, ed. by Richard Wightman Fox and T.J. Baroque Music Speech And Debate Free Essays

Speech and Debate 8. October 2009 Baroque Music Hello, my name is and thank you for listening to my speech. Have you ever thought about how music got to the way it is today? Baroque music may seem boring or useless, but is a very important part of music history. We will write a custom essay sample on Baroque Music: Speech And Debate or any similar topic only for you Order Now Today I am going to talk about the basics of baroque music, the main instruments used during the baroque period, and the influences on baroque composers. So, to give you some background of baroque music, here are the six eras of music. As you can see, baroque is towards the middle, from 1600-1750. Baroque music is easily recognizable from different eras of music because of its distinct qualities. According to essentialsofmusic. com, the baroque era produced very dramatic music. In a baroque piece, there are many switches in dynamics, which means that the music would be soft then all of a sudden loud, or vice versa. This is because the instruments at the time weren’t capable of medium volume. There are also many switches between solos and ensembles, so there would be one person playing, then suddenly the whole group would join. According to baroque. com, baroque music was also very repetitive. The same rhythms were repeated multiple times throughout the piece. Also, the mood was kept the same throughout the piece. For example, when a song began sadly, it ended sadly. The instruments used in a piece of music have a lot of impact on the sound. There were many different types of instruments used during the baroque era. According to thinkquest. com, there were about thirteen main instruments used. The first three, the clavichord, harpsichord, and organ are keyboard-like instruments. The harpsichord is the most popular out of the three and is a factor that makes baroque music unique. The three main string instruments used were the violin, double bass, and lute. The violin was the most popular in the Baroque period whereas the lute and double bass were used more in the Renaissance. The three main wind instruments used were the bassoon, oboe, and flute. The trumpet, trombone, and horn were used in larger groups but not for solos. The only percussion, or drums, used was the timpani, which is a set of five drums that can be tuned to different notes. When a composer is writing music, they are influenced by the things going on around them in the world. During the baroque period, there were many major events occurring. According to Catherine Schmidt-Jones’ article â€Å"Music of the Baroque Period† on cnx. org, the Age of Reason was going on during the baroque period. This meant that many brilliant scientists like Galileo ad Henry Bacon were making discoveries. Also during the Age of Reason, churches had less power than they did in the Middle Ages or Renaissance. So, musicians didn’t rely on them as much to buy their music which led to more diverse and creative styles. According to eh. net, the Age of Crisis was also occurring during the baroque period. This consisted of a very long recession and a war between France, England, and several other small countries, which controlled two of Europe’s biggest economies. Now that you know more about baroque music, here are a few composers from this time. Bach is the one that will be familiar to most of you. Now I am going to play a selection of Baroque music. At the very beginning, you can hear the string instruments, mostly violin, playing very softly. If you listen closely you will hear the counterpoint as many different parts are played at the same time. Then, suddenly the music gets very loud and forceful but still keeps the same mood. The brass instruments are playing in the background but are not the main part. This song is called â€Å"Water Music† and is by George Frideric Handel. In closing, I hope that you can see that baroque music is an important part of musical history. The basics of baroque music, instruments used during the baroque period, and influences on baroque composers are all an important part of what makes up baroque music. So, the next time you hear some older music, instead of tuning it out, listen for the different parts of the piece. Thank you again for listening and I hope you enjoyed my speech. Resourcing Talent Free Essays

Resourcing Talent Report Adrienne Westerdale Attracting and retaining a diverse workforce is very important; there are many organisational benefits for doing so. People of different ages, genders and cultures will bring new skills and ideas to the organisation. A diverse workforce can help to inform companies of new or enhanced products and services as well as open up new market opportunities. We will write a custom essay sample on Resourcing Talent or any similar topic only for you Order Now It can improve market share and broaden an organisations customer base. CIPD defines managing diversity as â€Å"valuing everyone as an individual- valuing people as employees, customers and clients†. Location is a factor that can affect an organisations approach to attracting talent; there are lots of people that will look for work close to their homes to avoid commuting or even relocating. This could become a problem for organisations especially if recruiting for a specialised position such as engineers; it could be that they have advertised the vacancy locally and haven’t had a suitable applicant so will need to look further afield. It may take a little longer to fill the position which could increase the work load for other employees. Again this would have an effect on the organisation as it could lead to employees taking time off due to stress. Salaries would be another factor that can affect the approach to attracting talent. By offering a high salary you are more likely to receive more applicants for the position, however, the company can only offer a specific salary for a specific role. The organisations reputation has a massive affect, maintaining good relationships with employees will help create a good reputation. Offering your staff good benefits and salaries as well as treating them fairly with respect will encourage them to speak highly of the company. Good news travels fast which will attract potential employees to the organisation, however, if you don’t look after your employees you will find it hard to gain their respect which could result in loosing staff. The recruitment methods a company use can determine who they attract when recruiting. There are many things to consider when deciding which methods to use; we must look at the costs of different methods. Advertising can be very expensive, magazines especially. For a black and white quarter page advert a company can look to pay as much as ? ,100 and up to ? 7,650 for half a page. This can also affect an organisations approach to recruitment and selection; as advertising is very costly most companies will be limited to where they can advertise a vacancy which may not attract the appropriate candidate. Recruitment Methods Email: Recruiting through email can be an effective way to recruit internally as everyone within the organisation has access to it; however, there are c hances that some employees may not pick their emails up in time to apply for the position. It could also cause conflict if only certain people are sent the email encouraging them to apply for the vacancy and others within the company aren’t. Notice boards are also used to advertise vacancies internally; there are advantages to these as everyone can see them. Most people will take a look if something new is put up; the advert will have to be bright and bold to attract attention. Notice boards don’t always attract the appropriate candidate and employers can find that most of their applicants are unsuitable for the position. A successful way of recruiting internally would be through talent planning/management; this way the employee has the chance to learn all aspects of the business at different levels while progressing. Methods of external recruitment can be through recruitment agencies; a variety of different external agencies can be employed to undertake some part of the recruitment process on behalf of employers. The good thing about using agencies is that they do all the work for you. They will advertise the vacancy as well carry out a short interview with any candidates to identify if they are suitable to apply. The only downside to using this method is the cost; some private agencies will charge a fee. Some companies may also use the job centre as a method of recruitment; however, some employers are reluctant to use them despite the fact that unlike recruitment agencies they offer free advertising. This is partly because the clientele is mainly comprised of unemployed people, who are perceived to be unskilled or low skilled and therefore inappropriate for many jobs. The recruitment function of an organisation is affected and governed by a mix of various internal and external forces. The internal are the factors that can be controlled by the organisation, whereas the external factors cannot. Examples of internal factors would be: * Recruitment policy * Size of the firm * Cost of recruitment * Growth and expansion Examples of external would be: * Supply and demand * Labour market * Unemployment rate * Competitors Other factors that will affect an organisations approach to recruitment and selection can be the effectiveness of the interview; most interviews will be made up of a panel of interviewers from specific departments of the organisation, it is important to ensure that all panel members are trained in interview techniques. You should make sure you carry out thorough preparation and know the candidate’s background while asking competency based questions linked to the person specification. Allowing sufficient time for the interview is very important and always gives the candidate chance to ask any questions. References can affect the approach to recruitment and selection; Stephen Taylor says â€Å"Like interviews and application forms, it is very widely used but has been found to be of limited value by researchers. As a predictor of job performance it has low validity and has often been found to contain more information about its author than about its subject† (Resourcing and Talent Management, Stephen Taylor. P242) a great deal of time and effort is put in by some employers to chase up references to find that they have little practical value. It is very rare that negative or semi-negative references are made; however, most employers now have a policy of only providing factual information and make no comment about an individual’s suitability at all. The law have made it difficult for employers writing references to know for certain that what they will write will be confidential as unsuccessful candidates now have the right to ask for a copy of their references. Inductions The purpose of an induction is to ensure the effective integration of a new employee into the work place. As well as the usual orientation, a new starter needs to understand the business, where their role sits within the set up and what’s expected of them, as well as being quite clear regarding their terms and conditions of employment. A good induction programme should leave no room for confusion or lack of understanding and should, therefore, induce a feeling of â€Å"belonging†. The employee should then integrate well into the team, have high morale, achieve optimum productivity and therefore be able to work to full potential. In other words- job satisfaction. For the employee it means that all bases are covered and their trained and introduced properly. It also means that all employees receive the same, consistent experience when joining. It ensures that they aware of the company policies and procedures as well as the company ways of working and vision. â€Å"The main reason is that new employees who have undergone an effective induction programme are likely to be competent performers at their jobs more quickly than those whose induction was scanty or non- existent. † (Malcolm Martin and Patricia Jackson, 4th Edition. P110) â€Å"Also, the former group are less likely to leave the organisation at an early stage than the latter group (this phenomenon is commonly known as the ‘induction crisis’ and signifies a dissatisfaction with the job or the organisation or both). (Malcolm Martin and Patricia Jackson, 4th Edition. P110) There are certain subjects that should be covered during the induction; employees need to be informed of the organisations products, services, markets and values, terms and conditions of employment for example; pay, hours of work, holidays and sick pay and pension schemes. During the induction employees will be made aware of the physical layout of the organisation along with their rules and procedures, they will also be told of the background and structure. These subjects will put across using different training methods. On the job training will include: * Demonstration/ Instruction- This is showing the trainee how to do the job. * Coaching- This is a more intense method of training that involves a close working relationship between an experienced employee and trainee. Job rotations- This is where the trainee is given several jobs in succession, to gain experience of a wide range of activities (eg. A graduate management trainee might spend periods in several different departments). * Projects- Employees join a project team- This gives them exposure to other parts of the business and allows them to take part in new activities. Advantages of on the job training are that it’s most cost effective as there are no external training courses to pay for and employees don’t need to be given a day release to attend them. It also means new employees are training alongside real colleagues so get an actual feel for how their working day will run. There are disadvantages however to on the job training; employees may pick up bad habits from those who have been with the company for a long time there is also the potential for disruption to production. The learning environment might not be conductive when carrying out on the job training. Off the job training will include: * Distant learning * Day release * Self-study * Block release course- This may involve several weeks at college. Advantages of off the job training are that a wider range of skills and qualifications can be obtained, employees can learn from outside specialists and experts. It could also mean that employees can be more confident when starting the job. Disadvantages are that it is more experience; companies may need to pay for not only the training course but also for transport and accommodation depending on the location. It could mean lost working time and potential output; once they start the job they may need some further induction training. A big disadvantage to external training courses is the timescales in which they are done. You may book an employee onto a course but will have to wait a couple of weeks for them to attend; this will prevent them from their starting their role. People who will take part in an induction would usually be managers, HR professionals and any trainers depending on the position. Inductions don’t need to be a very formal process but it needs to be properly managed. ACAS run practical training courses to equip managers and HR professionals with the necessary skills to deal with employment relation issues and to create a more productive work place environments. We will write a custom essay sample on Rise of Islam or any similar topic only for you Order Now It brought valuable changes as an outcome of correspondence while frequent In regards affiliating with orthodox local belief structure. Muslims urged new cultural proselytes for hundreds of years, beginning at around 700 CE. There were many conquests, far outstretched trade, and extended missionary movement. The geographical aspects of the Muslim people were fairly well accustomed by 1450 CE, which was the end of the post-classical period. Salami’s spread was progressive though remarkably sudden given the substantial geography and assorted regions concerned in. So what really provoked Islam to distribute their culture throughout the globe? How did the intensity of Islam become so surreal? The answer is military conquest, wide spread trade, political domination and religious ideas. A supporter of the spread of Islam was Its religious attractiveness. Islam represented the truth. They ad many fastened rules and laws. People were tempted by Islam due to peace, comfort, and security they distinguish In It. It also appealed to people that there was only one God (Allah), whom had no partner, son, companion or resemblance. The root of the word Islam Is Salem’, meaning to be In peace with God. In document B (Verses from the Curran) it reads, â€Å"Those who submit to God and accept the true faith; who are devout sincere, patient, humble ,charitable, and chaste. This shows that Allah was fair to those who were fair to him, not bring unjust fairness to the people of Islam. Another cause of Salami’s spread was due to their immense military force. Islam spread vastly to other cultures in a factor of military conquest, even though the religion was forbearing of other beliefs. Muslims rarely ever proceeded their religion with force unto people, commonly lookin g to charging a special tax on the opposition communities. The famous Jihad, or also known as the holy war recounted by the prophet Muhammad, was primarily used for defense of the faith. It was not used for forced conversion, even though there were minor exceptions. But the triumph of Muslim forces could generate a setting In which other people found It sensible to convert, or in which they were enticed to the religion plainly because of its visible power and accomplishment. During Muhammad’ death in 632 CE, a large growth of Islam spread throughout the Arab’s. This growth helped impel Arabs to an outpour of conquest, and military rapidly spread through the Middle East, involving the Byzantine Empire. North Africa was one untimely conquest. An unsteady median government, the caliphate, was devised for this West Asian- North African innards by Muhammad inheritors; it thrived until the thirteenth century. Political conquest was a major importance to the thriving of Islam. The Islamic government’s primary aim was to Institute a truly Islamic society. Islam does not ponder society to be merely an assemblage of Individuals. Rather, It reckons that society also comprises of their social relationships and the social system In which these Individuals exist. These are perhaps the most ultimate factors of a society, as different isosceles are designated as being developed or undeveloped and complex or plain, according to edge and the structure of the overpowering political system, are all part of the compound web of social relationships that contribute to the structure of society. Therefore, an Islamic society, by visibility, is a supreme society in which social order is esteemed and managed according to fundamental Islamic benefits, teachings and rulings. Lastly, another aspect that caused the blooming of Islam was their extensive trade. The first converts were the Sudanese merchants, accompanied by a few rulers and courtiers. The masses of rustic peasants, however, endure little grazed. In the lath century, the Lombardi interface, directed by a party of Barber nomads who were stern observers of Islamic law, gave the conversion process a new surge in the Ghana empire and past. The spread of Islam throughout the African continent was neither concurrent nor unvarying, but followed an unhurried and adaptive path. People who spoke of the Islamic religion and its ways of peace strode down the trade routes, spreading Islam to the merchants and people. In conclusion, the spread of Islam was due to the fact that they believed in peace, keeping religion stable and secure. How to cite Rise of Islam, Papers

Background Aussie rules are the main code of football. The AFL attracts the highest audience of any sport in Australia and has fourth highest audience of any professional sport in world. There are 16 venues in every state of Australia which is capable of hosting AFL (Adair Vamplew, 1997). The Melbourne Cricket Ground is the largest venue and has capacity of 100,024. The grand finale is played every year here only. The game starts in the last weekend of March and continues until the end of March. The game is played on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Each game is separated into 4 twenty minute quarters with a break of twenty minute, plus time on stoppage for goals and injuries. The game is played on a grass oval which needs not to be specific. However, the field should be oval between 135 to 185 metres in dimension and 110 to 155 metres in width. The game includes two teams of 18 players with an additional four players on an interchange bench. The players strive to score points by kicking on an oval shaped ball. The players pass the ball to other players either by kicking it or punching it with their palm. But they cannot pass ball by throwing. A player who catches the ball earns the right to make next move without intervention. The players try to win the ball by tackling opposition and stopping their progress. The play moves forward, backward and around of the field. The unique feature of game is mark, where players catch the ball from kick is awarded possession. The normal point worth one score whereas ball kicked through goal earns six points. The team with the most points wins at the end. AFL is locally known as footy. This game is played at amateur level in many countries (Murray Howat, 2002). AFLW is Australian Rules football league for the female players. AFLW is run by the AFL. The first season of this league was begun in 2017 with eight teams. The AFLW is in its second year. The teams are based of five states of Australia. It has quite different rules than AFL. The black and proud is one of iconic images of Australia. In 1993, the original AFL footballer Nicky Winmar stood against racial abuse and created history. He pulled his shirt in crowd and pointed to his chest and indicated that He is black and proud to be black (Klugman Osmond, 2013). It made a powerful prejudice on nation. There is something that people are mad about Australian Rules football. Even the book is also written by Matthew Klugman Blood Matterswhich explains sports, music and medicine (Klugman, 2009). His work on willingness of footy fans was highlighted on television, radio and newspapers. The writer resides in Melbourne and addresses sport studies at Victoria University. Event visit I went to AFL game for the very first time and returned home yesterday only. I have a lot of thoughts about visit. For a unique and truly sporting experience, I head to the Melbourne Cricket ground to watch an AFL game at Melbourne. The Melbourne Cricket ground is the definitive sport to see a game of footy. I instantly fell in love with footy. The popularity of the game often approaches obsession. I went to watch the final between Geelong cats and Collingwood Magpies. It was amusing. I have never gotten into this game in spite of being from a family whose grandmother knows all the words to Swans club song. It was meant to cheer favourite team and drink beer friends. I saw the game is reckless and action filled so I just Google image AFL players to see graphical appeal. I execrate they are the most attractive athletes in the best possible shape I have ever seen (Coutts, et. al. 2015). They seem like mix of rugby and American football but without pads and aggravating strike time. Sports betting was equally interesting in match. Sports betting is permitted in Australia. It is easy to bet in a sports betting outlet. A person can bet for just $5 or more and can vest interest in game. I secured my first bet on the grand final and it was quite thrilling (Sullivan, et. al. 2014). I experienced that Melbourne Cricket stadium was decisive spot to see a match of footy. The stadium was constructed in 1853 and can cover over 100,000 people. It is an awesome sport to see live. The interesting thing about Melbourne supporters is that games at Melbourne Cricket stadium will be filled. AFL is overwhelming as it includes lots of actions, a bizarrely shaped ball and a huge field. I would not have into AFL because if I did not have any friend taking me along to first glance at Melbourne Cricket ground. The people of Melbourne are enthusiasts about game and feel pleased to share their urge for the game with newcomers joining to the sport (Coulter, Mallett Singer, 2016) It is exciting to choose a team and shout for. It is the most popular way to sport a team by teams jersey or scarf and connect with locals. It also provided opportunity to me to register interest in PlayAFL. I enjoyed watching match with beer and pie. The pie is a perfect companion to cold beer. There is nothing like a pot of beer and four and twenty pie. What does Australian Rules football mean to Australians today The Australian Rules football is one of the greatest things ever invented. It has become leading football code in the nation. It has attracted interest of Australians than any other football code. Australian Rules football is attended by the highest spectators. Financial Accounting and Reporting Investment Property

Question: Describe about the Report for Financial Accounting and Reporting for Investment Property. Answer: 1: Report of Plant, Property and Equipment in the consolidated balance sheet statement The plant and equipment is mentioned under the non-current assets of the consolidated balance sheet declared in the annual report of the company JB Hi-Fi Limited. The plant and equipment of the company is registered to be $176208000 during the year 2015 (Annualreports.com. 2016). However, the financial declarations of the corporation JB Hi-Fi Limited is prepared and presented using the historical cost convention barring certain financial assets and liabilities as well as certain specific categories of the plant and equipment. The plant and equipments considered under the finance leases are essentially mentioned at cost after deduction of the accumulated depreciation as well as impairment. The cost for the plant and equipment mainly comprises of the expenditures that is directly associated to the cost of acquisition of the particular item (Deegan 2012). However, at the time of settlement, all or else the parts of the purchase concern is deferred and the cost is determined by discounti ng the total amount that is essentially payable in the future period. As per the financial reports of the company, the depreciation is enumerated on different plant and equipment as well as leasehold augmentations. As such, the items of the plant and equipment are essentially derecognized at the time of disposal (Annualreports.com. 2016). Total carrying amount for plant, property and equipment at the end of the reporting period The carrying amount indicates the total amount at which a particular asset can be identified after deduction of the overall accumulated depreciation as well as accumulated losses for impairment. In other words, it can be said that the carrying amount of the plant and equipment comprises of the cost of replacement of a part of a particular item at the time when the cost is incurred provided that the criteria for recognition are fulfilled (Deegan 2013). However, as mentioned in Paragraph 28 of AASB 116 (plant, property and equipment), the carrying amount of a particular plant and equipment of the company JB Hi-Fi Limited might be reduced by way of government grants that are in compliance with the AASB 120 Accounting for Government Grants and Disclosure of Government Assistance (Aasb.gov.au. 2016). Again, under the recognition notion stated in the paragraph 7, a particular business entity cannot identify with the carrying amount of a specific plant, property and equipment different cost s associated to the daily servicing of the said items (Annualreports.com. 2016). Moreover, the business entity follows the principle for recognition mentioned under paragraph 7 of the accounting standard AASB 116 under which the cost of replacement of the item at the time when the cost is incurred is taken into consideration under the carrying amount of a specific items of plant and equipment (Aasb.gov.au. 2016). Again, the carrying amount of the replaced parts are derecognized as per the de-recognition provision stated under the paragraph 67 to 72 of this accounting standard. 2: Composition of the Plant, Property and Equipment at the end of the reporting period The plant and equipment also known as the tangible fixed assets can be considered to a category of assets that have physical existence (Samkin and Deegan 2012). A particular business entity holds the plant and equipments for the purpose of internal use of the corporation that are anticipated to generate various economic benefits in the upcoming period (Horngren et al. 2012). The composition of the plant and equipment for the corporation therefore comprises of land, furniture and fixtures, buildings and many others (Botzem 2012). As mentioned in the annual report of the company JB Hi-Fi Limited, the plant and equipment at the end of the end of the reporting period 2015 is registered to be $ 176208000 (Annualreports.com. 2016). Valuation of the particular assets The valuation of the particular plant and equipment requires the identification of the cost of the item that is equal to the cash price of the item equivalent at the period or the date of recognition (Ryan 2012). However, in case if the payment for the plant and equipment of the company gets deferred beyond the period of the general credit terms, the variance in the cash price equivalent and the overall payment can be identified as interest for the duration of the credit until and unless such amount of interest can be capitalized according to the principles of AASB 12 (Aasb.gov.au. 2016). Again, one or else greater than one item of property and equipment of the business entity might be acquired as against the non-financial assets or else the mixture of economic and non-economic assets (Henderson et al. 2015). Again, the cost of this kind of items of property as well as equipment can be enumerated at fair value if not the switch over transaction are deficient in marketable substance or else the fair value of asset that are neither received nor surrendered can be dependably assessable (Henderson et al. 2015). The entity can select either the cost model as mentioned in the paragraph 30 or else the revaluation model stated in the paragraph 31 of the accounting standard as the accounting strategy and can apply this strategy to all the different categories of the plant and equipment. In case of JB Hi- Fi Limited, the plant and equipment of the firm are mentioned at the cost after deduction of the accumulated depreciation as well as amortization. In addition to this, the cost of the plant and equipment of the company JB Hi-Fi Limited includes the expenses that can be directly associated to the cost of acquirement of the firm. In case of the deferred settlement of the purchase consideration, the company determines the cost after discounting the amounts that the company has to pay in the future period to the present value as on the period of acquirement (Macve 2015). 3: Methods of depreciation for various categories of plant, property and equipment The company JB Hi-Fi Limited applies the straight line depreciation method in order to write off the net cost of the assets over a specific estimated economic life to the respective residual value (Annualreports.com. 2016). However, it is also expected that the adoption of the accounting standard AASB 2014-4 that refers to the Amendments to Australian Accounting Standards Board (Clarification of the Acceptable Methods of Depreciation and amortization effective from the date January 2016 (Aasb.gov.au. 2016). It is said to have no material financial influence on the financial declarations of the corporation JB Hi- Fi Limited (Annualreports.com. 2016). As per AASB 116, the company can utilize different depreciation methods to allocate the depreciation amount on a specific asset on essentially a systematic basis throughout the economic life of the asset (Aasb.gov.au. 2016). The mechanisms for calculation of depreciation comprises of the straight-line method, depreciation as per the diminishing balance method along with the units of production method (Laing and Perrin 2014). The straight line depreciation method leads to a constant and even charge over the economic life in ncase if the residual value of the of the asset does not transform (Yao et al. 2015). As per the AASB 116, paragraph 62, the other methods of depreciation on plant, property and equipment include the diminishing balance method that refers to a reduced charge over the economic life economic life of the asset (Aasb.gov.au. 2016). Again, yet another method of depreciation includes the units of production method that leads to a charge that is founded on the anticipated utilization or else output (Hanlon et al. 2014). The approximated useful life of the assets, the residual values as well as depreciation method of the company can be reviewed at the end of each and every reporting period where the effect of the alterations can be identified on particularly a prospective basis (Hu et al. 2015). The approximated useful lives that the company uses for the calculation of the depreciation be categorized into two different types (Hu 2012). The leasehold improvements are said have3 the estimated economic life of around 1 to 15 years. Again, as per the annual report of the company JB Hi-Fi Limited the plant and equipments are said to have the estimated economic life of 1.5 years to 15 years (Annualreports.com. 2016). 4: Disclosure of the rates of depreciation and the useful lives of the assets As per the accounting standard AASB 116 (Plant, Property and Equipment), the disclosure requirements refer to certain regulations stated under paragraph 73 of the standard (AASB 2015). According to the disclosure requirements, the financial declarations of the corporations JB Hi-Fi limited need to reveal for each and every category of the plant and equipment the measurement bases that can be used for the process of determination of the overall gross carrying amount of the plant property and equipment (Hanlon et al. 2014). In addition to this, the disclosure requirements of the financial declarations include the specifications regarding the depreciation method that can be use in the present case (Pawsey and Crase 2013). Again, the disclosure requirement also has the need for the declarations of the estimated economic lives of the each category of the plant and equipments of the company (Annualreports.com. 2016). Furthermore, the company also has the need to disclose the gross carrying amount of each category of the plant, property and equipment of the corporation JB Hi Fi Limited. In addition to this, the disclosure requirements of the company also include the specifications regarding the reconciliation of the definite carrying amount during the beginning as well as the end of the specific reporting period disclosing the additions, classification of the assets, acquirements through different types of business combinations, changes from revaluations, losses due to impairment and many others (Aasb.gov.au. 2016). The management of the company JB Hi- Fi also presents the continuous disclosures in order to provide the timely and at the same time relevant information to all the shareholders of the corporation (Annualreports.com. 2016). In addition to this, the management of the corporation JB Hi Fi Limited is also committed to meet the continuous disclosure requirements. The Board of the business entity JB Hi Fi Limited has also authorized the policy of continuous dis closures in order to make it certain that the processes for the identification as well as disclosure of sensitive information according to the Corporation Act as well as the Listing rules specified in the Australian Stock Exchange (ASX). The company JB Hi Fi Limited also presents disclosures concerning the environmental sustainability, carbon disclosure, management personnel disclosures. In the future period, the management would also like to introduce the rules and regulations stated under the AASB 2013-3 that states the amendments to the AASB 136 that mentions the Recoverable Amount Disclosures for Non-Financial Assets (Aasb.gov.au. 2016). As per the annual report of the company JB Hi-Fi Limited the plant and equipments are said to have the estimated economic life of 1.5 years to 15 years 5: Amount of depreciation charged on the asset for the current as well as the previous years As mentioned in the annual report of the company JB Hi- Fi Limited for the year 2015, it can be hereby ascertained that the depreciation on plant and equipment is calculated to be $22987000 (Jbhifi.com.au. 2016). The depreciation charge on the plant and equipment of the business entity rose to $22987000 during the year 2015 as compared to the figure of $ 21869000 registered during the year ago period 2014. Furthermore, the depreciation on the leasehold improvements was recorded to be $ 16137000 during the period (Jbhifi.com.au. 2016). The depreciation on leasehold improvements increased from $ 13661000 recorded during the year 2014 to $16137000 registered during the year 2015. Again, the impairment for the plant and equipment of the company is registered to be $1119000 (Jbhifi.com.au. 2016). Therefore, altogether the charge for the depreciation and impairment is enumerated to be $39124000 during the year 2015 as compared to the year ago figure of $ 35530000. Therefore, the depreciati on charge as on June 2015 is recorded to be $22987000. Furthermore, the EBITDA (Earnings Before Interest, Tax, Depreciation and Amortization) for the company JB Hi-Fi Limited is recorded to be $240031000 after deduction of the depreciation and amortization amounting to $39124000 (Jbhifi.com.au. 2016). 6: Review of the purchase of the items of plant, property and equipment during the year The purchase of the plant and equipment during the reporting period 2015 can be reviewed from the cash flows of the company for investing activities as regards the plant and equipment of the company. The payments for the plant and equipment reflect the investments of the company for the purpose of acquirement.
